Tsumabeni

Tsumabeni is written as "爪紅" in kanji characters and it already existed as part of the Edo cosmetic scene. Red dye and sensen flower were used to paint nails. The colors back then were much less bright, compared with their modern counterparts. Part of the reason was that upper-class women were not supposed to apply thick makeup.
