Even in the Edo period, there were beauty guidebooks, introducing makeup tips and beauty regimen. One of the most long-lasting was called Miyako-fuzoku-kewaiden, first published around the late Edo period, in 1813 (Bunka 10), and continued until the Taisho Era.
